Does PDF24 Creator even WORK (with OpenOffice)?

I have just had the most horribly irritating experience with this breah-takingly annoying PDF-creator, as this seemingly responseless tool wouldnt load the .doc file for countless number of times.
I wanted to simply convert just one single .doc-file to PDF, by opening from the tools menu. I have probably tried between 20-50 times to Tools - Convert documents to PDF, then selecting the file - and NOTHING happens, nothing comes up that make me actually save this file, regardless of waiting.
This made taskbar riddled with tens of duplicate instances of soffice.bin and soffice.exe (apart from me wanting to punch and throw the laptop to pieces), while nothing ever popped up on the screen... Until more than an hour after, that is, when I had the .doc in question opened in OpenOffice BEFORE launching PDF24 Creator, THEN it suddenly appeared in the black Drag and drop area, available to save as the PDF I wanted for so long.
Please tell me this is a bug with the program, or just an undiscovered incompatibility between PDF24 and OpenOffice. Determining from the extreme stacking of the two OpenOffice processes in the taskbar, one might suspect that this is the program that refuses to respond in the conversation attempt.
